2009-2018, Collage and drawing on paper and wood, different sizes
The raw material and point of departure for these works are documents, letters, and personal diaries. Some of the works were created based on an identical pattern in a coloring book. Whereas in an earlier series the patterns appeared as a support for drawings inspired by family photographs, here they shape the arrangement of family letters, diaries, and school notebooks. The patterns randomly rupture the flow of writing and the meaning of the sentences, resulting in a mass of meaningless letters and sentences. The repetition and ordered form of the pattern reorganize the medley of words and family memories into a new rhythm, giving rise to a dialogue between the handwritten texts, lined paper and recurrent geometric patterns. Some of the works focus on the verbal meaning of the texts and the images they provoke, while also exploring the limits and limitations of language.
